Statement on Guy McPherson

We learned recently that Guy McPherson, with whom DGR has collaborated in the past, has been accused by multiple women of sexually predatory behavior. We have seen screenshots of comments where he calls women vile names (e.g., he calls one woman a "cum-gargling whore"). These accusations have been corroborated from several sources.

At the time we collaborated with Guy McPherson, we had no idea that he was treating women so poorly. Deep Green Resistance has an absolute zero-tolerance policy for abuse and will stand against any predators being allowed access to the movement or anyone who could be harmed. Our hearts go out to his victims.

    1. I would like some proof. This is normal to shame someone who is bringing a message that those in power don't want others to know.

    2. More information is needed. From what is offered / known. Something(s) took place between two people. Both are involved in spreading the word about the reality of our situation leading to our extinction in very few years.

Has the emotional heat / whatever of our now unavoidable extinction caused this public revelation of personal relationships?

Whatever it is that happened: I doubt that it shall ever be argued in whichever form we would usually expect. Both individuals are fully aware of the time left to us. Has such precipitated these actions? How would we find out?

Everyone shall have to make their own mind upon as to "Guilt" / whatever and to whom such MIGHT apply.

Suspect that there shall be many more breakups / similar situations as we more fully understand, view and suffer the reality of what is taking place.

All such aside: We should be grateful that someone came along and laid it out so neatly that no one, not even FOOLS such as America's "Orange Buffoon" can deny that we face the end of Humanity's time on earth. ObamasMessage.com

    3. Come-on people, you all know how the establishment works. They'll say anything and do anything to anybody who threatens their little empire with the truth. Just look at how the establishment has treated prospects nominated for positions in the government. They lie! That's important in their business of mind control. You want proof of what Professor McPherson says? Just wait and watch how HOT next summer becomes around the Northern Hemisphere.

  5. Guy tipped his hand to me years ago when he confessed how much money he had squirreled away. I thought that was the depth of depravity to implore people to "Walk Away from Empire" while he was safely ensconced in the trappings of empire. What really convinced me was watching and filming him speak to an audience and the more that he frightened the group the better his enjoyment. That is the definition of a sadist. When he offered his services as a grief counselor I thought that was a wide open opportunity to abuse others which it turned out to be the case. I think his obsession wasn't climate science at all; it was an overriding desire to be important and to dominate others. that foul motive found expression and now there is the fallout and dark recovery that former followers will no doubt go through. At least he never achieved what Jim Jones did; that would have been guy's ultimate wet dream.

  6. This is so frightening, and so sad. I don't know him, I only know of his publications online.... there is just too much corroborating information now... frightening for women, and sad for anyone who is interested in climate change and the future. He has done enormous damage to so much and so many. What a waste.

    1. There are lots of truth-tellers out there. Ever notice the ones running into this kind of trouble are almost universally men? You would think "They" would try this crap with both sexes, no?

Anyone who wants to can still go read his essays online. But people need to be aware if he's behaving badly so women don't go being alone with him not knowing what his tendencies are.

And YES you can be a sexual predator and still be intelligent and write interesting or politically important things. Men are complicated beasties, as it turns out. Women are too. Human beings are. Big deal. He should still face consequences specifically for the bad behavior. Stop enabling this garbage.

  8. Followers are going to try to defend him. But whether it was or wasn't a setup, I saw how he responded to the woman involved. No remorse. No apology. Just excuses. He attempted to shame her. Said she had made erotic films. Said she instigated it. Said it was her fault. That tells me plenty about Guy McPherson.

    1. So true. He fooled many with his mild-mannered academic persona. In personal exchanges, or even when challenged to back up his assertions in YouTube comments, a very different Guy McPherson manifested. He is not a nice person.

      Delete
    2. This seems accurate. He goes for ad hominem attacks immediately when anyone challenges his 'science.' The mild mannered academic quickly shifts gears to acerbic and personal insults. The truth is most of his followers are gullible, scientifically illiterate, and with no appreciation for the complexity of climate models. McPherson is a biologist, and he too has no training in the physical sciences.

  11. I was always suspicious of his motivations for trying to convince people that it was too late to end climate change. I just had a gut feeling that there was some ulterior motive for what he was doing. It just never made sense to try to convince people to give up and not fight back against climate change. His information saying that it was too late to do anything just seemed completely ridicules. I'm glad he has been outed as the fraud that he is. I am also glad that he has been exposed as this sociopathic sexual predator. The women who came forward should be thanked for exposing this guy for what he really is. They've done a great service.

He needs to find a woobie, sit in a corner or get some damn therapy for his neurosis.

When these things do come to trial a victim is lucky if her attacker is even found guilty. I have no power to send Guy McPherson to prison. It doesn't matter what I think of him. 16. A setup? If anything, he is doing the work of the ruling class by urging people to not fight against climate change. There is actually compelling evidence to believe Assange is guilty of rape. That doesn't mean that he hasn't done anything good or made any contribution to the public realm. We really need to understand that abusive men come from all strata of society and in all political stripes. We also have to stop believing that because a man has made a contribution to the public good he cannot be reprehensible in his private life. We've had too many examples to the contrary to continue believing this fiction. And while we're at, let's stop making heroes of men. They will inevitably disappoint.

    1. It's my understanding that the rape charge against JA was not brought by the women, who were worried about unprotected sex (why go to the police about that-it could have been a honey trap, although Assange says, no) but concocted by the first prosecutor. The charges were dropped but then taken up by a zealous second prosecutor.

  18. I'd like to set aside, for a moment, the question of whether or not Guy is guilty of the alleged behaviors. Instead, I'm very interested in something else. I count, on Cory's last post condemning Guy, at least 38 individuals who express support for Cory and/or condemnation of Guy. My question is this: How many of those 38 have actual first hand information to support their position? It is possible that some do (or believe they do) but my guess is that the vast majority do not. They are expressing an opinion based on their respect for Cory or perhaps because they are actually happy to find someone they can vent their rage upon for the alleged despicable behaviors. When an allegation is made they are more than ready to jump on board. I have another question for these individuals: If one of the 38 was accused tomorrow of the same or similar acts, how many of the remaining 37 would quickly post their condemnation whether actual evidence existed or not? Based on what we have seen, it is likely that it would be most. I have to wonder if these folks ever stop to consider how vulnerable any of us is when people are so adamant in their convictions in the absence of personal knowledge.

  23. Has all the trappings of a charismatic guru installing himself as alpha male of a tiny sect or cult, peopled by earnest beta male supporters and a potential harem of available women. The Jim Jones analogy is probably wrong - there is evidence that was a CIA mind control experiment. Nonetheless there are hundreds of such cults and even highly educated people can be sucked into them, including the dangerous dynamics when they fission on the guru's abuse becomes egregious. He leads you all to lose touch with the real world (including the real science, which you each should study instead of being blown off your feet by his apparent (and fraudulent) mastery of the literature), to the point where you must become a true believer, or escape the group dynamic. Once you become a true believer it is much more difficult to escape the dynamic (and the group), because you face undergoing the reverse of the stripping away of your original worldview and being inducted into an apocalyptic cult, because you can't go back to what you once were or once believed, and there is no apparent "home" for you - you have to rebuild your world view from the ground up. The first thing that should raise your alarm is his certainty. Regarding complex systems like climate, no scientist can be absolutely certain they understand everything about how it works. Just drawing a regression line to name a date or year is not science either. Read the actual scientists doing the research, not McPherson's inaccurate thumbnail summaries. And if you are not into that, rely on your gut feelings about people - most women can see that he's a predator, even if he plays it smart like Hefner and never breaks the law. But be careful, when a cult breaks apart and expels its guru, people get broken, including those who think they are strong, and anything can happen.

  24. I urge ALL to suspend judgement on "whatever" happened. What we do know is this: Mr. McPherson has put together the facts of the matter as he sees them. And many agree.

While appreciating his input: I have a different view as to possibilities, based on my knowledge of various technologies that MIGHT allow us to place a SunShade to reverse the heating now underway in the Arctic.

The problem, reduced to its essentials: We failed to act when first we KNEW what we faced. And the result of such is the establishment of self-reinforcing Feedback loops that may very well cause our extinction in a very short period of time.

To keep on track is the most important thing we can do:

And making EVERYONE aware is THE START of any solution, if one exists.

  25. Guy admits he's part of the problem - which is male ejaculation addiction raping of Nature. the original human culture had no homosexuality at all and did not even know homosexuality existed - I'm talking about the San Bushmen and Baka people as well. Are we gonna say the original human culture was homophobic? Or perhaps modern humans have all the males lacking in real training of celibate "staying power" through trance dance piezoelectric asymmetric resonance of lecithin.

Guy admits "edward abby" and his books have the same sexist writing about females - I remember when I read Edward Abby back in the early 90s.

What is more shocking is that us modern humans in our "information age" don't even know about the dominant original human culture from 100,000 BCE up till 10,000 BCE - 90% of human history - until they got enslaved by the bantus a few thousand years ago, and the Dutch, etc.

Just 'cuz Guy relies on science to point out that science is destroying the planet does not mean that Guy as a person does not also embody the problem, just as Western civilization and modern humans going back to 10,000 BCE embody the problem. Archaeology has proven that early monocultural wheat farming caused an ecological crisis already from burning the forests to water proof the housing for limestone.

And that is also what created white people - DNA science has proven that white skin is from wheat monocultural farming lacking vitamin D in the diet. And so we can also deride Guy for being white - because just as ejaculation spikes cortisol and causes stress hormone and also dopamine as violence - creating a positive feedback cycle of war mongering rapist chimpanzees and modern humans - so too does white skin indicate a deep ecological imperialism culture.

The original human culture practiced Tshoma - one month of the males at puberty, fasting and trance dancing away from the females - and so learning to sublimate their life force energy as kundalini or N/om as "staying power." This was synchronized with the lunar pineal gland energy and so as Gurdjieff pointed out - modern humans are controlled by the "kundabuffer" - a psychic blockage of the lower back.

So sure Guy has serious psychophsyiological problems as do 99% of modern males due to lacking this original human culture training. Just check out Dr. Bradford Keeney's videos on youtube - he is the only non-original human who got trained in this original human spiritual healing. But also the qigong masters train in this - and yoga masters, etc. Sure in India the Brahmin Vedic culture messed it up, coming out of the wheat monoculutural farming - but Taoism and the "three gunas" of India are the older philosophies from out of Africa. This is traced through music theory by Dr. Victor Grauer.

Also check out Tantric Mongoose - Nityam - we got a serious deep learning curve when in the supposed "information age" people don't even know about the original human culture - the San Bushmen that we call are from.

  32. Just an FYI, the constant drone that he is evidence driven is nonsense, almost the opposite of what he does. He cherry picks outdated papers and retracted abstracts in obscure conferences to support his narrative and does not adjust his predictions based on changes in the data. An example is the trend in the reduction in arctic sea ice extent. That is not science. If you want proof just do your own research and follow up on some of his claims and references. Do not let someone be your brain for you. Do your own meta research. It is a bit harder but you wont be led astray by false prophets. And I am not a climate change denier, but making predictions that every human will be extinct in a matter of years should be obviously highly unlikely with just a bit of critical thinking.

I don't agree with McPherson's timetable but there's no doubt that we humans are doing everything we're able to collapse the biosphere of planet earth. The evidence is piling up even now that it may be too late to avoid a complete collapse of civilization before the end of this century. 37. HE TELLS US ITS TOO LATE
He tells us it's too late to be vegetarian, too late to go green, too late to drive EV's. He tells us that we are damned if we do, and damned if we don't. He tells us that doing anything to change is futile. Anyone discussing anything constructive is accused of spreading hopium, even though this is not even a word, except to members of his flock known as NTHE. Sounds like Trump right? Not some "guy" who says he cares about this situation and claims cult-like that only love remains. Trump is the product of the time of cult of personality and so is this guy.

They are both fomenting inaction and defeatism at the worst possible time in the fading history of man. GM's latest little video monologue features a message telling his flock Trump is a distraction. No surprise there, Hedges and Chomsky have been saying that since Trump got in. This is hardly a revelation. The hidden message of the video is the one barely audible sentence stating that the eXtinction Rebellion and all activism is also a useless distraction; and thus a waste of time.

This is pure neoliberalist climate denialism, same as Trump's own. It endlessly encourages inaction, paralysis and defeatism. This is insulting all the work going into the work of activists seeking climate justice globally, and especially GRETA Thunberg's own work as a member of eXtinction Rebellion.

Between the doomers and deniers, the path toward any action for climate justice looks bleaker and bleaker by the day. The wisdom of the day, that we must be able to hold two contradictory viewpoints at the same time for the first reformed, is the same as cognitive dissonance.

It could be seen as absurd that GM himself is a distraction and sociopathic. He is a self proclaimed sociopath and follower of the absurd according to his own words in his videos. In the end, only the absurd remains apparently.

Many are now attempting to take consistent effective actions and encouraging action, not paralysis – except most of those that follow the willful misguidance of self-confessed cult sociopaths like this, and this accusation is based on thousands of posts, most of it evidentiary citations over the past nearly five years of those working on the blog How Guy McPherson Gets It Wrong. This is accessible for those willing to make the effort, but not for those extremist ideologues who are hellbent on bringing down industrial civilization, thus amplifying the misery to a Mad Max nightmare; or extinction fantasy depending on your perspective.
